I’m Jaru Fane, imp, and former contract companion who puts up a good front, but inside I feel like I’m falling apart.

With the support of my Juniper Lake family, I finally know what I want to do with my life – start a business. Unfortunately, running a business doesn’t leave me a lot of time for my best friend, Larkspur.

Lonely, Lark decides to take matters into his own hands and remind me that he exists. The result is the start of something between us I never considered before. As things are starting to get good, like usual, my life goes to crap.

When disaster strikes, I know I’m not cut out to be what Lark needs. He needs someone like my bodyguard, Soren. I’m not strong. I’m not powerful. I’m always going to need someone to save me from myself. Setting Lark up with Soren seems like the best answer, but if I make the decision that will keep Lark safe, I may lose him forever.
